Better than Vinegar

Citric acid has many uses and is superior to vinegar (pH 3), it is a stronger acid (pH 2.2) and does not smell like vinegar. It is a preservative and imparts astringency to foods. When canning, use 1/4 teaspoon per pint. Make a Bath Bomb: Mix 2 ounces of citric acid with 4 ounces of baking soda, you can also add essential oils. Makes glasses shine: 1-2 tablespoons in the pre-wash compartment of the dishwasher or mixed with washing-up liquid. Clean the coffee maker: Put 1/2 tablespoon in a coffee pot and fill with water, then start the brewing process, leave for 15 minutes. Remove soap residue and rust stains. : 1 tablespoon in a 32 oz spray bottle, leave on for 15 minutes and wipe off. Clean Washing Machine or Dishwasher: 2 tablespoons (1 oz) hot water, run wash cycle. Citric acid can cause skin and eye irritation. Observe handling precautions.
