From all the mixed reviews, I'd like to share my first thought-provoking experience. Why I bought this: Most of my body hair has been treated with laser hair removal. I shave those few "tramps" that appear regularly every month. At a "certain age" (over 50) my chin hair started to appear; when I had to take estrogen blockers for breast cancer, they multiplied and thickened (horror). I pinched them when I saw them. Unfortunately I often didn't see skinny blacks until I got proper sunlight and would have been disappointed to find them 1/2 inch long or longer. Then there were short, thick whites that were very difficult to see but easy to feel. I bought a Finishing Touch product but changed my mind when I found out it was a razor. I found a Kolua wax kit and risked it. I'm so glad I did! Today was my first attempt. Armed with a backlit mirror and a paper towel, I read through the brochure and poured 1/3 of the Bare Faced beads into it. After about 5 minutes on the medium, they melted to the desired honey consistency. The pot is quite big, so there was a thin layer at the bottom. I was worried it wouldn't be enough so I poured another 1/3 of the bag and waited again. I started with the chin, where luckily all the hair grows in the same direction. Left side, center, right side. PUPPIES COME FROM THE FIRST RACE! Wonderful! I then moved on to the upper lip and was so excited that I forgot the instructions for 3 sections (side, center, side) and smeared my entire upper lip. Okay, that's coming off a little painful. BUT MY UPPER LIP WAS SMOOTH! (slightly red). next to my neck The hair there is thin, white, and grows in curls in different directions. I did small sections as advised, keeping the skin taut and doing multiple passes in different areas due to the different direction of hair growth. Clean smooth skin on the neck! IMPRESSIVE! Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem making a small "lip" at the beginning of the waxed area and grabbing it with my fingers to pull easily. I didn't pull all the wax out at once, but lifted a small section, peeled back the skin, and lifted another small section until I reached the end of the wax trail. First I applied to the thickness of the nickel; The wax strip got thinner as I made it longer - up to 2 inches worked best. Also, I immediately grabbed a paper plate to catch the first drop when applying. Even though I waved the wand over the pot a few times and thought it was all in the applicator, a small drop dripped from the bottom of the wand when applying the wax. About an hour from start to finish. I expect it will take less time as you gain experience. I'm ordering more "Bare Faced" wax beads today! (And turns out I only needed 1/3 of the pack, I had extra wax left over.) I've never waxed before, always do it as needed. Thats much better. Oh, and the pot stayed cool on the outside without worrying about damaging the furniture. I wholeheartedly recommend this product, much less messy than chemical epilators which have always left my skin smelly funny and red. and annoyed.
