Review on πŸ“Έ Unitek CFexpress Card Reader: USB 3.2 Type C Adapter for SanDisk, Sony TOPSSD & More by Tasha Folan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well with a few caveats to be aware of.

First, a little background. For the workflow, I shoot with a Nikon Z6. I have been using Sony XQD cards and am having issues with boot record corruption when using Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader. So I decided to try Sandisk Extreme Pro CFExpress cards (which are much faster). So I bought this reader and connected it to my PC via the front USB-C port. The copy speed is super fast. What is the problem? Don't leave your card in the reader! Both will be very (no, extremely) hot even if no action is taking place. Pull out the card and that's it. There is no heat at all. Now, this overheating doesn't happen every time, but suffice it to know that I should never leave a card in the reader. Second, Windows 10 Explorer recognizes the card. Same goes for Lightroom and Bridge etc. But for some strange reason Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader doesn't recognize the device even though everyone else can see it. I'm looking into this problem, but no solution yet. In general, the reader is fast and works well. Depending on your workflow, you may need a workaround.
