Rusty. It was a great rack until it rusted. Rings of rust remained on the freshly painted walls and the screws were so rusted that it was a nightmare to unscrew. The shelf itself is also rusty. I installed it for about a year and had to take it off, paint it RustOleum paint and buy all the screws new (weatherproof). The shelf works well, but if you're installing it somewhere with damp or damp conditions, be sure to prime it and paint it with a few coats of rust-resistant paint, as well as rust-resistant screws. I bought the correct size screws (#8 1.5 inch) from Lowe's for about $5. Don't wait to paint it and install new stainless screws or you will never get the screws out of the wall without destroying the walls. Luckily I noticed the rust when I did.
