I originally bought these as a joke for my parents, they are getting old so they often go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. For years, my mother complained about how hard it was for her to fall asleep after getting up to go to the bathroom. She didn't really like the idea so I kept it for the house. I put one in the master bathroom and one in my son's bathroom. He wasn't too happy with the idea either, but he grew up every time he was there. I really like it when I remember NOT to turn on the damn bathroom light lol. The motion sensor instantly detects movement as soon as I open the door, and the light emits a soft glow that emerges from under the lid. As soon as you lift the lid, the entire bowl lights up. I haven't figured out how to keep the light on just one color, it's currently changing colors gradually so I'll have to dive into the instructions. For now I'm happy with it as it is, glad I decided to buy it!
