This is a very good quality jacket for the money. My husband is a runner and is 5ft 9in, 165lbs with a 32in pants waist. He's no beanstalk, but he definitely doesn't have a belly to speak of. I ordered his normal size L. There will be a question whether size L fits or he needs size XL. The jacket fits the size of the shoulders and the length of the arms, there is a lot of space. The problem area is at the bottom of the jacket. I think this jacket should fit a bit tighter in this area to keep cold air out when cycling or running. If the person you are buying for is very slim I would order his normal size, if not you might want to go up a size. If you are buying for a woman with hips or bust size I would also go up a size. Overall this is a great jacket and I would definitely order another one.
