After a long, extensive, disgustingly draining snake session. I finally decided to invest in a real drain cap. This seemed like the best option to me. I can't even believe how much hair this thing catches, especially since I brush my hair before I shower to prevent it from falling out. It's disgusting and fascinating! It fit into my bathtub drain via the metal cross lid inside. As long as you keep it clean (soapy water doesn't cover its holes), water flows through it very well, and while it's not being sucked into the tub, it stays in place. The ring has small spikes that grab the hair and the basket also holds the hair - not many hairs can go through. To clean, I use an old toothpick to pick up the hairs—this is easiest as long as there's some water in the bathtub and the hair is hanging—and pop them straight into the trash can. Efficient enough!
