My cat has been eating Royal Canin for over a year since I was told I had to do the quantity reduce phosphorus in their diet. He used to prefer dry food, which is clearly not good for the cat's kidneys. I started experimenting with canned food with the lowest levels of phosphorus and worked my way down the list until I arrived at Royal Canin 12+. He loves to. He seems to like the taste and cleans his bowl. I usually add water to the jar before feeding him and it makes a little more sauce. The food has a thick sauce but the jar is mostly filled with food unlike cheaper products which are mostly sauce with leftover food. According to my research, this food contains 159mg of phosphorus per 100kcal, which is one of the lowest levels you can find without resorting to a veterinary diet. I also like it because it's high in protein and moderate in fat and carbs. Going from dry to canned seemed difficult until we tried this. It shifted easily with minimal discomfort. Food is significantly more expensive than many other products, but there is hardly any waste. I used to throw away a lot of uneaten cat food. Not with this feed. He almost always cleans his bowl. It also contains glucosamine for joint health, which is great. If you've ever tried feeding your cat glucosamine powder, you know how much they love it. I can only recommend this food. It is more expensive but also much cheaper than veterinary formula. He is doing well on this feed and has not been bored at all for more than a year. Since he started eating this food he has stopped throwing up constantly and he has stopped crying when he goes to the tray. Update - after a long and happy experience with this cat food, unfortunately my cat suddenly stopped eating it. right after I received a batch of four disposable boxes. I think they changed the recipe because he eats other low phosphorus cat food I bought at the store like a champ. If you're looking for an easy way to get accurate information on the nutritional value of wet cat food, simply search the Internet for the Cat Food Phosphorus Index. This is an information site for cats. There is a vet who has compiled a full list of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Super helpful. Much luck!
