An inexpensive car ride solution

I bought this item to hold either my phone or tablet in the car for my toddler to be able to watch movies on long car rides (as an alternative to the expensive TVs installed inside a vehicle). It works OK and serves its purpose, but I did have a few issues with how it fits in the car and how it fits on my tablet. Problem 1: It doesn't collapse down far enough to easily fit on to my headrest. The bars for my headrest are too narrow for the collapsible part to pop on easily. I had this problem in the back seat with both my Toyota Highlander and husband's F-150. The solution is easy, though slightly inconvenient. You have to take the whole headrest off so that you can slide this mount on from the bottom. I keep the mount installed in my car so that I don't have to constantly take things apart. Problem 2: It fits my tablet, but only with the case removed. I have one of those thick cases, similar to an Otterbox on my Galaxy tablet. It is too thick for this mount to grab on to, so I have to remove the case from my tablet to be able to use it. Not a huge deal for me since my tablet is a piece of crap to begin with, but if you have something nice, you may want to make sure your case is thin enough for this to still fit. I have no problems at all with this item holding my phone with the case on (I have a clear plastic speck case over my Samsung Galaxy phone). Overall, this isn't a bad product. You just need to make sure that this will fit your vehicle and your phone/tablet before purchasing.

Pros
  • Simple installation process takes just minutes to complete
Cons
  • The holder may shift or rotate during car rides
