gets a little louder as settings are increased. I like silence when I sleep and I can sleep in the 2nd setting, I don't use the 3rd setting. Excellent circulation keeps me cool all night. Update 8/2021: Fan is still quiet in the 1st level, 2nd level is louder and disturbs sleep, vibration is quiet in all settings. 3D setting is noisy. This fan is designed to circulate air so it doesn't feel like there's a lot of air moving when it's aimed straight at you, which is normal. At levels 2 and 3 you feel more air on you, but it gets loud and I can't sleep. I have an IRIS USA WOOZOO HD18NU Air Circulator Compact Personal Office Home Desk Fan 11.5 inch fan white and it's very quiet at all speeds 1-3 but it doesn't oscillate and doesn't have a timer remote which I need or want to be me can set a timer to turn off while I sleep.
