Review on Mildew-Resistant Absorbent with Superior Absorbency Control by Kevin Taharka

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent to Normal: Spill Kits

I have bought these absorbent socks several times. The socks in my previous orders have been great. They looked and felt fragile, but they absorbed and held back a lot of water. I then spun them in the washing machine to remove most of the water, air dried them and reused them several times. However, after a few uses they became stiffer and less absorbent (which is what I was expecting) so I decided to reorder them when I had the last few left. The new batch I received with my last order was completely different. Upon opening the box, I found that they had a new, more durable look and feel of sock material, and felt slightly thicker and more durable than the previous ones. Then I assumed they somehow improved an already great product. However, I didn't notice that after the first use. They absorb a ton of water. However, these new socks now leach out the silicone material inside. This leads to two problems: 1) they're awkward to handle and some of the silicone material stays on the bottom, and 2) I can't put them in the washing machine anymore to wring out some of the main water so they dry faster. .In my photos you can see the difference between the socks before and after the water absorption (previous version on the left, new version on the right). They would have gotten full 5 stars if I had written my review a month ago. But with this new version I have to confuse them. The last thing you want when trying to keep your basement dry during an all-day rainstorm is to make the job dirtier and more expensive.
