Works great to connect the digital to analog converter (DAC) and bypassing my PC's preamp. The raw digital signal is sent to my BlueSound PowerNode 2i via an optical TOSLINK cable, where its DAC does the conversion. I've tried extracting this sound from the HDMI output before, but every time my computer woke up from sleep, it asked the monitor what it was capable of, and apparently its response was blocked by the audio extraction device, preventing my computer from sending Audio refused the HDMI port. The only disadvantage of this solution is that the volume control on my PC no longer works. because its preamp is disabled. But BlueOS Volume is great for that.
