Review on Sewing machine Janome DC 4030, white/pink by Dorota Naruszewicz ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I did not regret the purchase, everything is fine.

I bought a few days ago in Hong Kong at the lowest price of that day, about 14,680. The price, of course, is not small (thanks to the party and the exchange rate), but compared to more modern counterparts, about which there is an understanding that thick places can more or less be sewn, this is the initial price. The store claimed that they normally cope with the thick places of the machine only from 20 thousand. and above, they offered instead some kind of Brother, which recently cost 25 thousand, and now (oh miracle !) has fallen in price to 20 thousand. (again, thanks to the cheaper exchange rate!). They didn’t convince me - neither by design, nor by weight (about 5 kg in total, although maybe this is a prejudice - in modern ones, instead of 1 motor, they put several small ones on each active node, hence the savings on parts connecting the nodes), nor additional. motor on the needle (to enhance piercing). My personal opinion is that, after all, they used to do more thorough equipment - it’s not for nothing that this model has been on the market for 20 years and is still in demand. The overall rating is 4 due to not confident work both with thick threads (it doesn’t lay them as neatly as thin and medium ones, although I adjusted the tension and set the needles I needed), and with transitions to thick places (it sometimes skips stitches, though not always). I tried a special foot for difficult places - it also skips stitches (I didn’t understand the reasons). And yes - this foot can be bought for 100! (in this store it costs 2 thousand! - like a native Janome .).

Pros
  • 1) user-friendly design (separate illuminated buttons for each stitch with foot selection guide) 2) the necessary set of basic lines with the possibility of their adjustment (length, width) 3) start-stop buttons, needle position, spot back-tacking, the ability to sew without a pedal 4) good backlight (mini light bulb is not diode, 12V 5W) 5) hard case 6) quiet, powerful enough, stepless speed control 7) horizontal hook, needle threader 8) arm platform, accessory box inside the platform
Cons
  • 1) weight (but it is also a dignity - about 10 kg, but on the table it stands monolithically on rubber legs) 2) there is no amplifier for puncturing the tissue with a needle (the model is quite old, if I’m not mistaken, then the mid-90s !, it is controlled by one engine according to the representatives of the store, but this, again, is a plus, since the power is generally higher than that of more modern analogues 50 W versus 35 for modern ones) 3) not quite confident work with thick fabrics (seams), especially when switching to them and back (for example, when hemming jeans) 4) although the warranty is 2 years, the store assured that there was already a problem with spare parts due to the old model (I can’t say this myself)
