When I received this product I was concerned that the end results would not suit my use case, but I am so glad I was wrong! The converter is very easy to install, install the supplied software, it is on the disk, but it can also be downloaded from the Internet. After installation, which only takes a few minutes, simply connect your video recorder to the supplied dongle and you're done. It should be noted that you still need audio and video cables to connect the two components, the dongle only has the inputs and not the actual connections. The biggest thing I love about it is that you can customize the recording settings to your liking. I set mine to the highest bitrate for recording and overall the final video looks exceptionally good for VHS. It's not a control box, so all play, stop, pause and fast forward operations of a VHS tape are done through the VCR itself. You basically press the play button on the VCR, record in the software and you're done. I'm glad I don't have hundreds of VHS tapes, but for the few that I have, this thing is a blessing! Highly recommended.
