I recently stumbled upon my old SL 2 at the gym I've always loved them but now that I've had the opportunity to get the latest and greatest it's time to shopping . After reviewing the B&O Play 8i Sony 1000M2 and Bose QC 35 II, the question was: are they better than the SL IIi enough to justify the extra $130-$180? Play was in trouble, so they went to Best Buy to listen to Sony and Bose phones. . They were both good - both had dramatic presentations with good detail with decent mids and thundering lows. Of the two, I preferred the Sony, the QC 35 2's bass sounded unnatural and poorly integrated. What I liked about the sound of Soundlinks II is the more natural and non-fatiguing playback. I ended up buying the SoundLink II again, hoping that the slightly overdriven sound from Sony and the $130 price increase would tire me. Ordered this morning and as I write this they are sitting on my head. Sure, I mostly listen to classical, jazz, and electronic music, but I still prefer that sound over what I've heard from the Sony and the Bose QC 2. Love the convenience, easy bluetooth connection and the money I saved. Best Value - Premium Headphones. Paid €375 the first time. STILL highly recommended!
