Don't even think about discontinuing or remodeling these shoes; YOU ARE PERFECT THE WAY YOU ARE! I wanted a hiking shoe that I could use while lifting weights and most importantly lifting my toes while sitting and standing to work my calves. This shoe offers excellent lateral support and is very comfortable for my 2 mile daily walk and 2 hour weight lifting sessions every other day. Despite reports to the contrary, these shoes aren't hot as it's 95 degrees Fahrenheit and humid today and I've just got back from a leisurely stroll. I also look forward to wearing them on my winter walks in snowy Wisconsin without getting wet feet like the mesh sock sneakers have been. The problem with running shoes and weightlifting is that they're so soft that your feet tend to tip over and you lose your balance easily, and while I don't expect a leather upper to protect my feet from a dropped barbell plate, it would mean one Difference between "bleeding and bruised" toes and "just bruised" toes. The moral of the story is don't drop heavy weights on your feet, but take comfort in the fact that if you do have an accident, there is at least some protection. Buy these shoes a full size larger than you would normally wear for leather shoes. You will be pleasantly surprised.
