When I was looking for a winter jacket for my small dog I was pleased to see the closure at the top (on the back) and the harness attached but as usual the actual purchase The decision fell on guessing because of the size!. I am a pet owner in my 60+ years and have yet to find pet clothes that match the size of a pet I am buying for back in the day! My small dog is an adult female Cavachon (half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/half Bichon Frize). ), one that falls on the small end of the spectrum acceptable for their breed. She weighs 12 pounds. She has a somewhat long back (15.5 inches), deep chest (20 inches), and small neck (12.5 inches) in relation to her height and weight. The 15.5-inch rear is overlong for this manufacturer's average size, but it's only half an inch. The 20 inch chest is quite in line with her plus size range. But what about the 12.5 inch neck? It's not even listed! For the back length, I trusted the size Large, especially since the chest circumference was in the Large range. In the end I chose Big, which is good. The jacket fits her perfectly, like a glove. However, it's so tight - even around the neck - that if she gains even an ounce, it'll be too tight!
