Get ready for compliments and questions from other travelers

The new Porter 30 is a few notches better than my other Ospreys (Hikelite, Daylite, Daylite Plus, Veer Messenger Bag). It can be used daily but best suits my carry-on needs. It gives pride of ownership and looks fantastic. The material is very durable ripstop and the zippers, buckles, hip belt, hip pads and handles are a few notches better than my other Osprey packs. The admin area is kept in bright green and the zipped compartments for glasses and travel documents as well as a separate zipped compartment for laptop and iPad are successful. However, there is no water bottle slot or internal compression straps. I use a case but this scratch resistant material would be better for a glasses case too. It's also comfortable to wear on trips to airports, hotels, etc., but I wish the Osprey had added some breathability improvements to the rear. Now it's just a flat back and the air can't get out. Castle Gray is a dark greenish gray and a very stylish colour. It looks smaller than I expected (which is a good thing) and when properly packaged it still lasts up to a week or two on my gear. Another 5 liters or so would be better for me. Because of the incredible compression of the straitjacket, you can tighten any daypack, jacket or whatever you want on the porter. You don't have to use Daylite or any other "compatible" Osprey package. I have included some photos of the Osprey Hikelite 26, Camelback Mule, Osprey Daylite plus and Thule 21L and they are all well anchored. This Thule is perfect for luggage rack trips as it has a large top pocket for sunglasses, passport, wallet and cell phone. It also features a slim profile, side vent or water bottle pocket, attaches and detaches quickly, and looks stylish in a straitjacket. It fits under the seat but takes up a lot of legroom, so I recommend using the top basket for convenience. I just take off my backpack and put it under the seat in front of me (with valuables and flight gear). Porter has great handles and can be stored in bins as a small pocket on its side (like a book on a shelf) so you can probably pop it in an already covered bin. I love it! Below I've posted a photo of my Thule 21L attached to the side of the Porter. I don't like the shoulder strap option because I wouldn't wear it that way at the airport, and also because the Osprey doesn't have a shoulder strap. Be prepared for compliments and questions about this beauty from other travelers. Now it's as close to perfection as a carry-on/backpack. Hey Osprey, add a water bottle slot, internal compression straps, a detachable waist belt, a rear air duct for better breathing, a "secret" zippered pocket on the back for a passport, and an expandable 3-5 liter zippered variant (like at the Vaude Wizard) and it will be the best hand luggage! PS about the packaging: Porter 30 arrived very quickly and was perfectly packaged in a Revain box. It was in a perfectly sized box, and airbags were strategically placed around it. You could say that the people who put this pack together really appreciated it. Much appreciated and thank you for the great surprise upon opening the box! PS #2. I recently purchased the Osprey Tropos 32 and it is much better than the Porter for many tasks including travel/hand luggage. I'll review it soon, but it's nowhere near as the Tropos is much more travel friendly, has a superior breathable back, better organization, and a cool stand! Yes, stand! With Tropos, I no longer have to struggle with my carry-on luggage in long queues at the airport.
