I usually look for trends in negative reviews for a product I'm looking to buy, so I know it's legitimate to be concerned. This one was mixed but mostly people just complained about the size. My son is almost 7 months old and ready to climb anything so I bought this. It's just his size! (And he's medium-sized according to the growth chart.) I was surprised at how hard the foam is, but it's still soft enough that I don't have to worry if he bangs his head on it. He's not big enough for me to worry if he falls. The velcro on the bottom is very strong so the pieces won't fall apart during play. (However, there's nothing stopping her from heading upstairs.) The only thing that bothers me is that he slides across the carpet, so he struggles when he tries to climb. I hope this won't be a problem as he has more experience in climbing. I think this is a great toy and would recommend it to anyone with an active child. One final comment: I'd say it shouldn't cost more than $50 (it's just plastic-coated foam, after all).
