Like others I have seen Steve Guttenberg highly recommend them. The Overnight Sensations are a highly acclaimed do-it-yourself speaker set from Parts Express and to be honest they've been a joy on my desk for the past 5 years. I bought the Micca out of curiosity... and I'm glad I did! Are they already sold out or not available? I have about 10 hours on RB42. Quick comment: The Micca rep I spoke to assured me that this model has multiple FR audio sweeps and about 20 extra minutes of audio testing. The "burnout" period is nonsense when examined thoroughly. The burn effect is about 99.5% psychological/auditory acoustic processing...put simply, your ears take time to learn how to process sound, which is why people report sound improvements over time because your brain has actually learned how to process sound hear speakers better. First listening experience: They are finer and livelier than the nights, which were flatter, less colourful, which I mostly prefer. It's really subtle with RB42s, but enough to favor them overnight. Overnight stays can be boring. You get a little more shine with RB42. Low frequencies of around 80Hz and below are much more reliable due to the larger driver (look it up on YouTube, someone removes the driver and it has a huge motor)! You can spend a lot of time with them without feeling tired. I agree with the comments from other reviewers about the aesthetics. They look sleek, nothing fancy but better than most budget speakers. They look way better than my Overnight Sensations because I coated them with black plastidip for durability. Also, the cabinet is dead, which means no resonance due to the ΒΎ inch thick cabinet, which is really impressive for a speaker of this size and price range. Achievement: I agree with others. While they're fine with my 50 watts RMS per channel, I can tell you they need about 25 watts MORE per channel to really shine and not clip your amp. Features: port nose. This is inevitable with such a large cabinet and such a powerful woofer. This only happens when you stretch very little and at a decent volume. Otherwise you hear nothing. Another feature is that they look odd on my speaker wedges due to their thinness. Technically, I could have bought smaller speaker stands, but I feel the speaker could tip forward due to the deep cabinets. Take some measurements. My setup: Asus DGX sound card. Nobsound 2.1 200W Amplifier with Upgraded 24V 14A Power Supply Passive Subwoofer is Homebuilt with 6.5" Peerless Driver. Sounds epic in a small computer room.
