Review on πŸ“Ί OREI 4K HDMI Splitter - 1x2 Ports, Full UltraHD 4:4:4 HDR, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.2, 60Hz, EDID Support by Michael Finnegan

What it lacks in elegance it makes up for in bypassing problematic hardware.

Use a few this for separating the outputs of two video cameras (AG-CX350, XH-A1 via component to HDMI converters) in order to simultaneously use the inputs of the DVR (Atomos Ninja V) and the HDMI NDI encoder ( TBS2605) to control devices that prevent the encoder from correctly capturing the Ninja output (don't know why). It does the job. The only thing I don't like about them is that if you can't bypass the hard-coded EDID mode (which emulates a 4K TV) it won't provide any output on output 2 until output 1 is operational. . This device can be greatly improved by adding one or more of the following modes: A. Auto-playback of last known EDID if output device 1 is not already enabled. B. Mode of use of the EDID of the first available output (even if it is not output 1).C. A mode that uses the EDID of the first outlet found and then resets it with the EDID of outlet 1 when outlet 1 appears.

Pros
  • Works with all HDMI 1.3 and 1.4: supports 3D and LPCM, Dolby-AC3, DTS7.1, DSD/Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD Master Audio, almost all available audio options are supported
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
