A few years ago I bought a very nice ultrasonic humidifier. However, when I turned it on, I found that the white mist coming out at the top wasn't entirely water, but mineral dust everywhere. By installing demineralization cartridges in the water tank, most of the dust has been removed from the air. I change them about every 28 days. That solved the dust problem, but then the cartridge that came with the humidifier, which was supposed to keep the water from getting slimy and dirty, finally wore out. I cleaned my humidifier from once a month to once a week. It was such a hassle to take it apart to get under the float. Enter these little fish. They worked great for keeping the slugs out.
