Review on Crockpot 2.5-Quart Mini Casserole Crock Slow Cooker, White/Blue: Convenient and Stylish Small Slow Cooker by Flex Graham

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I don't think it's a MINI. This is just the thing for a couple or for Goldilocks!

My 25 year old Rival multi cooker got to a point where it would only cook on HIGH regardless of handle position. This was one of those that had an oblong metal pan mounted on a hot plate and I loved it because I could sear the roast in this pan on the stove and then place it on the base/plate. It was also overall light (compared to earthenware). I was dying to replace the old guy with a similar style but when I came across this one in the search results I thought it would be nice to have a smaller container now that the nest is empty and I don't need the container these days. This particular variant has proven to be multifunctional as it is more or less a pot that fits into a heating element. I've used it a few times and am mostly satisfied. I chose the basic model because I don't need the "Pre-cook later or cook xx hours and return to keep warm" functions on many current models. The size suits us very well, the oval shape making it perfect for things like ribs that won't fit in a similar capacity round plate. What I love about it are the handles on the unit itself, which allow me to easily move it around when I need more tabletop space while cooking. I LOVE the clips to hold the lid. They work very well as there is a rubber grommet around the edge of the lid that makes an amazing seal when the clips are pressed into place. WARNING: DO NOT close the lid while cooking! My husband did this when he was cooking a heavily seasoned roast pork, thinking the vent in the lid was supposed to release steam and the sealing would infuse the meat with all the flavors. It did, but it also filled that pad with a scent that I couldn't shake! I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could purchase a new cap, but they do not sell the cap separately. :-(What doesn't impress me very much: Firstly, the way cooked food sticks to the sides of the pitcher. I've forgotten how hard it is to rub that caked ring off at the waterline. See it a little differently after me have been enjoying countless delicious meals from my non-stick metal slow cooker for over 20 years it will take a while to get used to it a bit surprising that in all these years no one has come up with a better icing though the Magic Eraser Reduced the amount of elbow grease required, which is the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
