This is my second time trying a curling iron that requires you to use your free hand to curl the hair and keep it on the barrel. In general, I am not a fan of such curling irons. It takes three times longer than using a traditional curling iron because you have to alternate between using the brush, curling iron and wrapping your hair around the barrel. If anyone has a third hand, this curling iron isn't so bad. This particular curling iron is good, but definitely not perfect. The stem has a matte finish that gives the hair a bit of grip and helps it stay on the shaft. There are multiple heating modes that are easy to control. Heats up very quickly. The power and heat buttons are in a very bad place. i am right handed When I pick up the curling iron, my thumb is directly over the button. I only curled 4 strands of hair and accidentally pressed the buttons 3 times. It comes with a very nice soft storage pouch. But the cord doesn't fit in the bag with the iron, so it's annoying. The cord is long, which is good. But he's easily confused. I wouldn't spend money on that. It's too time consuming and has some design flaws that just aren't worth the money.
