Review on πŸ’Ύ Kingston Digital 128GB Data Traveler 3.0 USB Flash Drive - Green: High-Capacity Storage Solution for Fast Data Transfer by Cesar Rios

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Yes, this thing is slow

In all tests except sequential read, it's no faster than a regular USB 2.0 drive (and even slower than some of them). Sequential reads are about twice as fast as a typical USB 2.0 flash drive, so yes, faster, but still well below what you would expect from a USB 3.0 flash drive. Not that I was expecting a speed demon (read reviews). I was just looking for something cheap, and for the extra price I can deal with the poor performance. If you're just looking for something inexpensive to install software, create a recovery drive, or move small amounts of data, this is probably fine. However, if you're looking for a high-performance USB drive, look elsewhere, this isn't it. I used it to create recovery media for my new gaming laptop so I could erase the drive and reinstall Windows. but there is still a factory reset option (if I ever need that). And I used another one to create Windows 10 installation media and do a clean install. Both operations worked as expected, so there are no complaints. I also like that they are white and have flat sides (easy to mark).

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly
