Great for Palate Expanders

My son plays lacrosse and recently had a palate expander installed. I didn't want to put his mouthguard on before every workout since we flip his expander, so I bought this Shock Doctor Adult Braces mouthguard to try. This worked really well as his mouth expands. Advantages: Suitable for a palatal expander and brackets of braces. It is not installed, so there is no need to reinstall the mouthguard if the teeth move. My son finds it useful. Cons: This mouthguard is made from a soft material and my son had an adjustment period as he was using a fitted mouthguard which is made from a much harder plastic. He also found it harder to fit the mouthguard around the helmet frame because the mouthguard is soft and flexible. Conclusion: This mouthguard saved us a lot of money and hassle while twisting my son's palate expander. This also serves the intended security purpose. However, my son complains that it's harder to put in his mouth around the helmet. Overall I like it and will buy another one when the first wears out before the palate expander is removed.
