I have several other air purifiers, each from a different brand, and here's what I think sets Levoit apart: 1. You can turn off all the lights with One -Click buttons! Why, WHY is this such a rare feature in electronics these days? 2. Night mode, which reduces fan speed to almost silent. 3. (My Favorite) The buttons make no noise when pressed; no unpleasant, unnecessary *BEEP*. 4. No stupid "feature" Wi-Fi. Well, in relation to some of Levoit's claims, this cleaner isn't as quiet or as effective at reducing odor as they would like you to believe. But that seems to be the norm for air purifier manufacturers. Night mode may be near silent, but even the lowest default settings make a little more noise than I expected. On my other purifiers, the lowest setting is almost inaudible. It doesn't really matter to me, but just FYI. And like every other cleaner I've had, the highest setting roars like a jet engine on takeoff, although placement can help mitigate the ill effects. . I mean, let's face it, it's just a filter. It only catches airborne particles above a certain size. Obviously, all odor-causing particles trapped in the filter are removed from the air, reducing odors. However, in my experience, most odor-causing particles appear to be either much smaller than 0.3 microns, or the origin of the odor is in the gaseous state. So don't think that this or any other cleanser is spring freshness magic. However, carbon filters help with odor reduction compared to what a standard filter is capable of. If you have an unpleasant odor that a standard filter can't get rid of, an activated carbon filter can help (emphasis on "power" because again, it's not magic). All in all I'm impressed with this little cleaner so far.
