My 5 year old daughter is a size 9 right now and the medium size fits well, there is room to grow. Her dance studio has strict rules about where shoes can be worn, so it was great to leave out her ballet shoes or tap shoes instead of wearing street shoes. My daughter can wear them herself and they keep them warm in cold weather. The only criticism is the fabric. It's a very thin parachute material and the velcro strap constantly catches the shoes. From a sewing and construction standpoint it looks like it will last, but the fabric is already looking bad with all the snags. For the price I would expect a slightly nicer fabric but I can understand why they chose it for its easy wipeability. If you don't care about the brand, zulily sometimes offers an unfamiliar brand that looks exactly the same and costs a third of the price.
