Storytime! So everything I do here in the studio works with Bowens bindings. They're tough, they're fast, and they're kind of foolproof. I ALWAYS hated the Balcar system, it always seemed like a waiting disaster and it never felt stable. And then I stumbled across Goodwill, which was selling three Buff lamps for about $8 each. Result. I've searched the forums and countless other sites to find a way to take the headlights apart and convert them to a Bowens system, but to no avail. Then I just happen to find these things and I'm like, 'Fuck it, I'll try it. Worst case they don't work and I take them apart and use them for parts." These things are oddly stable for what they are, pretty solid, and while the Bowen ring fitting process can be used. Clarification., the Rest is solid, does its job and works exactly as it's supposed to.I still hate Balcar mounts and still worry that one wrong move might break a very expensive bulb but at least I can now use the headlights that do I have.
