I'm 5'8, 150 lbs, maybe 42" on the hips and 30" on the waist. I usually wear 8 inch or 10 inch pants but I have a problem with things that sit on my hips and are too big in the waist. Bought a size 10, dark wash. I just tried it on but 10 fits perfectly. I wouldn't go for an 8 because that would make an unattractive muffin top. to regulate the tummy to keep the bulk left over from giving birth to my kids but the lack of an intervention really helps the tops fit well and not bulk up my tummy. I'm a fan of textured fabrics like denim because I'm pretty soft and they give a bit of control. Other reviewers have mentioned crooked stitching, but mine is a neat stitch. Dark wash is a beautiful deep color. This color has real front and back pockets which I am very happy with. It hits the knees, a modest but young figure, nothing matronly, I'm considering ordering one in black too.
