Review on HORI Nintendo Switch HORIPAD Wired Controller (Red) - Officially Licensed by Nintendo by Joseph Campbell

Not bad but after a week the left stick is drifting

I bought this for the turbo function so I can farm shooting stars in Animal Crossing. It quickly became my controller of choice for convenience as it's wired and doesn't require charging the controller or docked Switch while gaming. The cable is very long for me and has a lot of slack when sitting about 8-8 feet from the console. The size of the controller is a bit unwieldy for me as I have small hands that better fit the size of the original joysticks that came with the Switch. It's not that bad, but I'm not sure if this is a good controller for a kid. I've never used the official Pro Controller for the Switch, so I can't tell if it's the same size. The turbo controller is a bit fiddly, but this is my first time using a turbo controller and I have nothing to compare the quality to. The controller comes with no instructions on how to operate the turbo function, just a safety/warning leaflet and button diagram. You need to hold down the turbo button and press the button you want to assign, then release the holding of the turbo button and press the assigned button again to perform the turbo action. The initial tap to assign triggers the action as usual. So make sure you're not triggering a time-based action that requires constant typing in your game before checking that your turbo feature is properly enabled. I really like this controller despite these shortcomings. The biggest problem I had was that the left stick started drifting to the left without being touched, even though I'm very gentle with the controllers and have only been using them for about a week. I can take my hands off the controller and my character moves to the left. This causes accuracy issues when gaming, and it's become impossible to type with my Switch's onscreen keyboard, as the left stick drags the letter selector while I'm typing. It is very disappointing that the problem that official joycons suffer from is also observed in other peripherals. I was hoping the quality would be better. I have already applied for an exchange through Revain. I will update this review if my experience changes.
