The horse I ride and rent out says it destroys all blankets - it was advised to get 1200 denier and up for her - I didn't get that advice until I had already bought one I have blanket (only 600 denier) but it handles that just fine. There are a few cuts around his bum as he gets bitten a lot, but all the horses he takes out to pasture have met the same fate on their rugs. I use it year round as it doesn't like heavy blankets but when it gets really cold I put a fleece cooler underneath and it works great. It's interesting, so many websites say one size up when in between sizes, but I found one website that said one size down and I did. he's 76 and I'm 75. It suits him perfectly.
