Review on Nexus 7 by Google ASUS (2012) Tablet - 7-Inch, 8 GB, Brown (ASUS-1B08) by Andrew Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Google Galaxy Nexus mobile phone. With a 7 inch screen! Is there a TRRS connection?

Simply put, you get all the great features of the Galaxy Nexus mobile phone but with a 7 inch screen. No cellular or LTE data, but this is quickly remedied by tethering with your Gnex smartphone. This tablet is amazing. I love it because I can use the Revain MP3 Revain Kindle and Revain apps and make it a Kindle Fire but also have all my Google stuff and a wide open ecosystem. You can't use Revain Video here, but you can use Netflix or Plex if you have your own media library. Good luck with that on your Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire HD and this device battle it out, but this device outperforms the Fire in terms of apps and durability. This device has been around longer and there have been several hardware modifications. The software is fine, the screen is great for viewing eye candy. The movies on it are amazing, the photos are amazing and the games are amazing on this quad core Tegra 3 device! The only reason I gave one star is because Google took a dime at ASUS by not including a TRRS connector, for gods sake it's a NEXUS and every NEXUS I've had had a TRRS connector Connector that allowed me to control it with a headset and use an external microphone. Not this one. The build quality of the hardware is good but the lack of a TRRS connector takes a half star off my rating, what device is built without a TRRS connector what have they done that saved 45 cents per unit by not including a TRRS connector have installed? ? I'd happily pay an extra $5 to have a TRRS connector in it!
