Review on πŸ’» Rain Design iLap 13-inch Aluminum Laptop Stand by Mike Modesto

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Unfortunately I find this iLap almost perfect

I really wanted to hate this Macbook Air stand for being so ridiculously expensive, but it's actually almost perfect. The front pillow doesn't stretch and digs into my forearms a bit. I think this problem gets worse the higher the user level. I'm 6ft 1in tall but if I had broader shoulders or was a drug addict the problem would be worse. Either way, the iLap outperforms the standless alternative. Ergonomics is rough. The front edge digs into my chest when I'm working in bed, and the biggest issue for me is the hard and unforgiving surface on either side of the mousepad. Next to the carpal tunnel At the slightest pressure on the palms I got pain in the os pisiforme. It drove me crazy I bought all kinds of wrist splints, gloves, and carpal tunnel wraps. To be honest I don't usually need those wrist wraps anymore as this iLap's cushion is large and strong enough to lift my palms up so they float above the surface. Macbook for pain-free typing. The hand position has also improved and I make fewer typos thanks to iLap. When I first saw this on the Revain list, I scoffed at the price and then attempted to create my own rustic solution using foam, an old laptop cooler, and Velcro. It turned out to be a waste of time and materials. So I just gave up and bought an iLap. It works well under all tested conditions. In bed, pressed to my chest, on my knees, bed or table. I didn't try to take the velvet pillow off because of the mentioned carpal tunnel. Macbook should have come with this stand. This iLap is just one of those super expensive but must-have aftermarket accessories. The other one that comes to mind right away is the TStand for my iPad Air 2. I have to mention this because I really love this thing, although I'm still sad about the price. If I were to do it again and again now, I'd probably go with the 17-inch model. Okay it doesn't fit my little Macbook Air toy but it will be a lot more convenient - and more useful for future new laptops etc. I would give it 5 stars if the pillow were just a few inches wider horizontally. My guess is that over time the foam will condense and I'll lose the benefit of the palms up. But only time will tell. Take a deep breath and just buy this stupid thing. You will probably like it.
