It needs to be tied very tightly, and even then the tape is stretched and the belt is untied. If you are wearing it on a wedding dress I would suggest doing a few small stitches to connect the rhinestone thread to the dress itself. You can remove it at any time with a seam ripper, which will ensure the belt stays in place.
