Review on Dunlop Winter Maxx WM01 275/35 R21 99T by Michal Kucharski ᠌

I like it, thanks for the quality product.

Skated the season. Operation in harsh Siberian conditions with frosts under -40. I think Dunlop is one of the best friction clutch manufacturers, they are very popular with us. I was looking for a replacement for the squalor of "Goodyear UltraGrip Ice +" - those who write that Winter Maxx behave badly in a rut advise you to drive on this one, after them Winter Maxx will seem like riding a tram. These are certainly not spikes, but the Winter Maxx behaves very worthy in a rut - good side grips do their job. Another piece of advice to those who complain about the track and directional stability - put the wheels already and you will be happy. In general, we needed tires with an "evil" tread but good handling at speed, and just then Winter Maxx WM01 appeared - I took it and did not regret it. The cross-country ability is excellent - in the spring, when the snow melted in the yard, which had not been removed all winter - it was rubbing its belly, but it was driving, for the whole winter it never sat down anywhere. There were no problems with climbing the ice slides. But the price for good traffic is noise. Yes, they are even noisier than breeches, but any spike will be many times noisier, it’s not even worth comparing. The stronger the frost, the better it holds, because. tires do not tan, and snow and ice become harder and do not have time to melt when braking. Excellent directional stability for Velcro, it does not break into a skid, but if you try it goes very gently. In skidding, the steering is very pleasant and understandable, it gives a feeling of complete control - those who like to pull the handbrake in winter will understand me. In terms of wear: I drive 90% in a city where salt and sand are constantly poured - for a season of 6 months, the lamellas on the front drive have practically worn out, the back is like new. But keep in mind that in winter I enter every second turn in a skid and constantly turn around on the handbrake. It will be possible, of course, to use the third season, but on ice the grip will not be the same. In general, those who want decent flotation and at the same time controllability - this is for you, but you need to be prepared for noise a little higher than on the bridge frictions.

Pros
  • Excellent cross-country ability, good directional stability
Cons
  • A bit noisy for a clutch, excellent value for money.
