Excellent Dacor Oven Lamp

"My jaw dropped" when I saw the Dacor Oven Lamp OEM replacement price (https://smile.amazon.com/Dacor-002243292317-Original-Equipment-Manufacturer /dp /B001VCV1QS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1WIRML0BIRILH&keywords=dacor+oven+light+86364&qid=1568242166&s=gateway&sprefix=Dacor+oven+%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-4) for $26 at the time of writing this article. Sounds expensive, but the price was $42 if you ordered direct from Dacor. It's just a 12V/10W two pin halogen bulb and can't cost that much. I ordered these lamps and they were identical in every way, including the markings, for 60 cents each. If you have a Dacor oven, use these bulbs. I'm sure Dacor buys these lamps from the same manufacturer and resells them for a significant profit. It is likely that there is only one or a few manufacturers of these lamps. I nearly forgot that. I've seen several questions about using these non-original lamps in self-cleaning ovens. No problem. The internal temperature of a halogen bulb is around 3300K (thermal temperature, not color temperature), which is almost 5600 degrees Fahrenheit. A hot oven (550 degrees Fahrenheit) will still feel "cool" in relation to the lamp's quartz envelope. Don't be afraid to use them in the oven. By the way: Do not touch the new lamp with your fingers. Oils can build up on the shroud, causing overheating and possible premature failure.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Fragile
