Review on 5053 Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch for Men by Invicta by Joe Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good price, great stuff.

I just received my watch so this is a first impression. I will update periodically to give a better idea of performance, portability, etc. The watch itself is solidly built and comes in a very nice yellow suede box. Looks very good. I used to avoid Invictas because they feel big on the wrist. I can handle big clocks, I've got 26 hours now, but I don't like big ones. The bracelet is made of durable stainless steel and is easy to remove for adjustment. I only mentioned this because I've come across newer straps that use a different pin system to hold the links together. Did I mention how beautiful the watch looks? Apparently, many watch collectors have had issues with Invicta's customer service. Can't speak to how I said I just received it today and it appears to be in good condition and I'm very happy with it so far. I'll give it a month or so before I can comment on the performance. I've set it to one second of the official NIST manufacturer time, so it will be interesting to see any time discrepancies over the coming months. For now I can say I highly recommend it and look forward to adding it to my collection. Maybe this will open up Invictas for me. I have my eye on the 8928OB Pro Diver. Update: A previous reviewer gave this watch two stars due to a perceived defect. The crown was "frozen" and he could not turn it to set the watch. As a result I sent it back. When I received my watch, the crown was also frozen. I too was scared at first, but as it turned out, that's how it is. The crown is in the stowed position and all you have to do is gently pull it out. I've only worn the watch for a few days but I think I can speak about its accuracy now. It has an automatic movement, so it relies on a system of mainsprings and gears to provide the power to drive the movement. When I first got it, I pretty much let my hand move naturally to unwind it. The result, after the first night's sleep, he lost almost a full minute. On a whim, I've tried intentionally twisting or shaking my wrist for a few seconds during the day. When I looked at the NIST website the next morning, the clock was a full minute ahead. So how much you move or wind your watch will have some impact on its accuracy. An automatic movement like this will never match the accuracy of a quartz movement, but if you want a watch that needs little care and maintenance every few years. will be passed on to the next and possibly older generation, this watch is for you. With a watch that looks like a work of art with hundreds of tiny mechanical parts moving together, you might see a slight inaccuracy as a flaw or a sign of its charm. That was pretty much the obvious, by the way, but I only saw it after reading about types of movement. On a movement or automatic watch, the second hand moves in a rapid or smooth motion, making several revolutions per second across the dial. The second hand of a quartz watch only ticks once per second, hence the pronounced "stuttering".
