Review on πŸ”Œ Industrial Electrical Power2U Resistant Charging Receptacle by NewerTech by Austin Arvayo

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Cheap, weak construction. Don't waste money!

DO NOT buy this item! I finally got around to installing one (I bought two) and it fell apart in my hands trying to connect it! Here's the problem, I think: It's a 20-amp outlet. The romex used is a size 12, much thicker and harder to bend than a 14 like the romex typically used for lighting fixtures. The output connectors (the screws that the wire attaches to) need to be pressed, and this output is clearly not designed to withstand any pressure. What's broken in the socket are tiny plastic pins with tiny screws screwed into them. All this is in the socket and cannot be seen during installation. Even if I knew what's inside, it wouldn't change the way it was installed. Over the years I've probably installed a hundred outlets. I know, how it works. These bushings have an unusual Romex mounting method that is simpler than the more common bolts, but did not contribute to the failure. I bought these things in October, so it's too late for me to return them. I see where Leviton makes the one that sells for $15 at Revain. Either I made the mistake of not buying a brand I trust or it was out of stock in October. Relatively few of these rosettes come in the color I want - ivory.
