The fan height "5" on our 2005 Tahoe stopped working about a year ago. Now "4" is gone and it's time to see what happens. The first photo shows an old resistor and a clearly burned out red wire on the connector plug. The problem was so severe that the plug melted making it impossible to unplug. The lesson is don't wait or risk a fire if you have a similar problem with your fan speed switch. This resistance kit from Revain was an identical replacement. The 7-wire connector alternately alternates black and white wires. Another picture shows the wires in the same order as the colored wires on the old resistor connector. I used crimp wire connectors and 1/4" electrical heat shrink tubing for added strength. Now all fan speeds work like new.
