This fan worked surprisingly well when we lost power during a heat wave here in Southern California. The battery operation worked well, for longer use I also connected it to a solar battery, since the heat sometimes lasted into the night. Evaporative cooling works well in a small area, but doesn't cool the entire room. but as a complement to a fully functional evaporative cooler (no air conditioning) it was very efficient in a heat of 112°F. I put it on a plastic tray on the bookshelf by the sitting area because some condensation drips onto the surface it's standing on, but that's a minor thing. The price is quite reasonable for this level of comfort.
