Review on πŸ” Enhance AXWG-03S Experience with Vantage Point AXWG-01S Extra Shelf in Silver by Jon Odom

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Useful but far from premium

I ordered two of these and wall mounted them in my home theater. One holds my projector and the other holds each projected component (Xbox, Wii, Laptop, Ps3). At first it might seem strange to put them with the rounded end against the wall and the square end out, but it actually works better that way. a little. It's actually more of a rotation, but you know what I mean. Aligning the bracket is a lot harder than you might think. When the shelf is fully installed, it also slopes down instead of being perpendicular to the wall. How it is. It doesn't usually matter much, but for me it did because my inverted front projection projector was upside down on it and at about 10 feet the image dropped about 6-7 inches more than it should have. . I had to mount this to a wooden post (behind 2 layers of drywall) using the screws provided. I originally bought some 50 pound drywall anchors and used them to hold the shelf with the projector on it, but as I installed everything the shelf started tipping forward and the top anchor ripped right out of the wall. It wasn't about weight, it was about torque (turning away from the wall around the bottom of the mount). I got it right and want my lesson to serve as a warning to others - DO NOT ATTEMPT to mount this directly into the drywall unless you have fasteners that extend into the empty space behind the drywall (and if you don't know what that means, don't even try. do it). NOTE FOR NEW BUYERS: DO NOT install the top plate before you have secured the bracket to the wall! They have a loose and slightly less unstable connection.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
