Exactly what I was looking for: real stone, small (I would call it 'pebbles'), colourful, smooth, with natural colours . I sprinkle them around my potted houseplants, applying just enough to cover the soil. There are two reasons.1. APPEARANCE: Stones adorn my potted plants. They cover the ground and level it. The pot has a "finished" appearance. Natural colors blend with plant colors as opposed to the colorful rocks seen in an aquarium.2. Watering: Stones protect the soil and roots when watering. Have you ever seen water digging into the ground where it is poured? The presence of a stone layer prevents this. Additional Benefits. 1. Rocks can help a small wobbly plant stand up. a lot, but the volume is about 2 cups. Note - the way I use the stones differs from the instructions on the packaging. The packaging states that stones should not be placed on the root ball of the plant. Most likely, the root ball should be planted above ground level, and the stones should go around the root ball to the top of the root ball. I'm not sure why this method is important. However, as described above, I have been using the stones for several years with no problems. I highly recommend this product.
