Review on πŸͺ’ BLADELIFE Razor Saver & Travel Case - Enhancing Blade Longevity for Ultimate Razor Holder Solution by Margaret Scott

Revainrating 4 out of 5

First impression - Nice packaging, clear instructions - Based on real science - Upgrade to come

At first glance you might think this is a little useless. And I'll give you this... at first glance it seems so. There is a certain science to this, however. A few years ago I saw on the local news that you really should dry your razor blade to make it last longer. I looked and this advice was confirmed. I've been doing this ever since and it's really important. This principle also applies to knives. I never let my kitchen knives air dry... I always dry them thoroughly before putting them away. Here's the thing: Even though I dry my razor blade after use, the fact remains that the bathroom gets constantly damp from showering and bathing. My razor never dries for long. I could probably squeeze even more life out of my blades with this system. I use several Gillette blades, which are quite expensive. I took lots of photos to give you an idea of what you are getting. The desiccant is a cartridge that is held in place by twisting the tab at the bottom. Cartridges last three months. Currently (September 14, 2021) two replacement cartridges cost $4.99. I was under the impression that once the device was snapped into place and closed, the blade was almost hermetically sealed. Today I put a new blade on my razor and locked it in place. I will update this review in about a month and give you my final impressions. UPDATE 2/10/2021: This is the 17th day of testing of this product. So far I have to say that my blade still feels pretty fresh. Usually, the softening stripe on the blade is almost gone by now. As you can see in my photo "Day 17" it is quite intact. My shave is very close and I feel almost as good as with a new blade. I will report when more time has passed. UPDATE 10/18/2021: This was the 33rd day of testing of this product. I have to say the blades are still pretty sharp. I shave against the grain of my beard for a close shave and these blades still deliver a very close shave. If you compare day 17 and day 33, the softening strip looks almost the same. The green bar has the same color intensity. It is impressive! FINAL THOUGHTS: As gimmicky as it sounds, this product actually works. Scientifically, blades stay sharp when protected from moisture. Will I keep using it? Yes I agree. Even though I buy blades in bulk from Costco, it still costs a lot of money. If I can milk them how much they cost I agree. Just a note: I went camping once while testing this product. The razor holder is perfect for traveling and therefore very practical. Overall I think it's a good investment. If you are undecided on this, I totally understand. However, you may be pleasantly surprised by your own results.
