I liked that they were really bright white as shown on the internet. They were used at my husband's US Air Force squadron holiday celebration. I was on a tight budget and at the last minute I was commissioned to make a beautiful 15 table centerpiece. I bought two sets in case I run into any problems, but I was fortunate that they all worked well. They are made of very strong and durable plastic. I threw in a few at rush hour to decorate and they still worked throughout the party. They also had no signs of falling onto the concrete. One suggestion is not to lose the thin, round plastic shroud that keeps the batteries from activating. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm sure you can cut something equally thin to put back in to secure the batteries during storage. I just twisted mine a little and put them in the box, they came. I want them to be timer lamps. I had every intention of using them in the water, which I have tested. Water does not penetrate them. I suggest letting them dry well before unscrewing them to turn them off. They also sink to the ground. I have provided a photo where the jar was filled with water, which you can tell by the cranberries floating in the jar.
