compression is not great. i do tend to be too big for small and too small for a medium, i am a difficult fit. i like to wear under jogging shorts, and get thigh and buttock compression. if i went down a size, i would probably get too much crotch compression! they are lightweight, wide waistband. they would probably offer just right compression for a true medium wearer.See full review
