I recently got a new iPad Pro 12.9 instead of the first generation 9.7 Pro. As a teacher, I use iPad and Apple TV with Keynote instead of PowerPoint and needed a pen. I was a fan of the first Apple Pencil but couldn't justify buying the second version at such a high price. I read about Adonit Note on Cult of Mac and decided to give it a try for $50 versus a $129 pencil. That's a great thing! It's just as responsive as the Pencil but cheaper. While it doesn't have pressure sensitivity, I don't need it as I need something that writes well enough for my students to see. And while it doesn't charge by laying it on the side of the Pro, it uses Micro-USB so it's easy to charge. Also, it has a nice clip that can be put in a shirt or pants pocket. Of course it's not as stylish as the pencil and not sensitive to pressure, it works very well and is just as close to the pencil without paying Apple's tax. !
