Review on Neewer Advanced Barndoor Dimmable Photography by Justin Stinson

Not perfect, but good enough

Good light for the price. The hue is a little greener, but this can be corrected in-camera with a custom white balance. I use it as a key in a gridded softbox for relatively close-up talking-head video and never push it past 40%. It's often 10-20 percent. It is very thin in size. The main reason I bought it was because it fits snugly against the wall and fits the bill perfectly. Even with a softbox, it's less than 12 inches front to back. With the rear mount and the way it mounts to the stand, the actual usable thickness of the light can be 6-7 inches, so plan accordingly. minuses? The ball on the mount is difficult to tighten, and unless you actually rotate it, it won't hold any position other than perpendicular to the ground. It also only dims in 10% increments, which can make finding an exposure point difficult. Judging from my cameras, the color temperatures aren't entirely accurate, but they're easily within the acceptable range. In general, this is a cheap light that is way ahead of cheap lights even a few years ago. If you don't expect miracles, this will serve you well.
