Haven't tested it in the field but from my quick tests at home it looks like a really solid glider. The plate also works fine with a heavy DSLR + lens combo (D750+ Tokina 16-28 f2.8). While you could mount it on a single tripod, there is some wobbling and flexing from the weight when you move the slider to the sides, so I suggest you buy a second tripod or invest in a pair of solid stands so you can mount one underneath on each side to provide a completely flat sliding surface. The 4 swiveling legs are a big plus as you can mount it on a flat surface or on the ground. I'm also glad I went for this carbon fiber version because it's feather light. I have purchased several Neweer photo/video equipment and have been completely satisfied with their products despite being a cheap alternative to other more established brands.
