Small Fit & Not Breathable

I tried this on while I was still about 8 months pregnant. For reference, I am 5’5, 143lbs pre-baby weight. Currently a size M while the pregnancy weight comes off, athletic build. I thought after having my baby that this would likely fit better. And it does, however. The fabric stretch is not ideal for feeding and arranging underneath its cover. I tested it out at home and thank God I did because we will be going to a wedding where I will need a cover.Once baby is underneath there is so much fabric space taken up (not that there was much to begin with) that you need to really pull and tug on the fabric to stretch over the baby and you. I felt like I was wearing a top that shrank in the wash and became a crop top. You could see my breasts easily because the fabric would pop up when I moved my arm to make an adjustment such as cradling once my baby got a good latch.I also did not like that I felt like my baby wasn’t getting enough fresh air. It got really hot really quick. I maybe had it on for 3 minutes max. Out of fear that she was breathing in bad air, I immediately took the cover off. I live in Arizona and it’s still the cooler time of the year. For me to get that warm that fast makes me feel like this isn’t a good fit at all. So I rate it low on being breathable. As for versatility, I got this expecting to primarily use it as a nursing cover and it says that it can be used as one. But I don’t see that happening for a mom unless she is very very petite and lives in a place with a cooler climate year round. I’m sure it works great for the other suggested uses like as a car seat cover, barrier for shopping cart seat or restaurant high chair, stroller cover, blanket to lay on the floor so baby isn’t directly on the floor…. But you can do that with almost anything too.Additionally, when the package arrived, the fabric smelled terrible! I had to wash it which I did per the instructions and I let it air dry so that no shrinking could occur. The smell did wash out thankfully. But I read somewhere that chemicals are sprayed on certain items to keep pests out while at the warehouse and during shipping which concerns me a bit since it’s a baby item and because it was such a strong smell. Almost like it was soaked in whatever it was.

Pros
  • Washable
Cons
  • The cover may not be able to fit properly if the car seat has additional attachments like cup holders
